Outdoor Life

There is lots of beautiful countryside in Surrey. It is known as one of England’s most wooded counties, but also has sizeable areas of heathland.

The Devil’s Punchbowl, a large natural amphitheatre, is a well-known feature of the Surrey landscape and a Site of Special Scientific Interest.

Several Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty cover parts of Surrey, including the Surrey Hills National Landscape and the High Weald National Landscape.

Surrey is also home to England’s largest vineyard, at Denbies Wine Estate near Dorking, as well as RHS Garden Wisley, one the Royal Horticultural Society’s visitor gardens.
