  • What’s claimed: “A computer-implemented method comprising: determining, using data generated by a sensor, a current value of a metric representative of a physiological state of a user of a digital content playback device, wherein the metric comprises a heart rate of the user; comparing the metric to a set of predefined target ranges; comparing a rate of change of the metric to the set of predefined target ranges; selecting a tempo increase factor based on the rate of change and based on a range within the set of predefined target ranges to which the current value of the metric corresponds; and applying the tempo increase factor to adjust a current playback tempo of music provided by the digital content playback device to the user.”
  • Why this patent rocks: This appears to be one of the patents relating to the app RockMyRun, which uses data from a user’s accelerometer in their smartphone.
