US Patent No. 10,743,095 - Apple Inc - Contextual Audio System - Patents Rock - Russell IP
  • Rockin’ Patent®: US Patent No. 10,743,095
  • Filed: 21 March 2019
  • In the name of: Apple Inc
  • Title: Contextual Audio System
  • What’s claimed: “A contextual audio system, comprising: a wearable audio device, comprising: an audio output structure; a receiver; and a sensor configured to provide a signal indicating whether the wearable audio device is positioned at least partially in an ear of a user; and a sensing device, comprising: a transmitter in communication with the receiver; and a position sensor configured to receive positional data; wherein: at least one of the wearable audio device or the sensing device is configured to adjust audio output from the audio output structure in response to the positional data and the signal indicating whether the wearable audio device is positioned at least partially in the ear of the user.”
  • Why this patent rocks: This patent appears to relate to a safety feature that could be added to Apple Inc’s AirPods, which detects when the user is at risk. As highlighted by 9to5Mac, the patent appears to suggest that the AirPods could respond by lowering or pausing music to enable the user to focus on the potential hazard. See here for 9to5Mac’s more detailed take on the patent.
