- What’s claimed: “A wearable electronic device, comprising: one or more accelerometers; and one or more processors in communication with the one or more accelerometers, the one or more processors configured to: receive, at the one or more accelerometers, an input based on a gesture of a user on a region of the user’s skin near the wearable electronic device; detect, based on the received input, a movement of the wearable electronic device; and determine, based on the movement of the device, an input command.”
- Why this patent application rocks: This patent application appears to relate to Google LLC’s wearable technology that is said to allow localised control using various gestures and touches to the skin near the device. The patent application describes that users can make horizontal and vertical swiping gestures on the skin, which is detected by sensors and translated into a command. Sources appear to predict that this technology may be used in the new versions of Google Pixel Buds and Google Pixel Watch, making it possible to do certain actions by just swiping or tapping one’s wrist or temple.
